James Scott, M.D.
Dr. Jim Scott is a board certified family practitioner.
He practiced in rural Oregon for 20 years, where he was a founder in 1976 of the Siuslaw Rural Health Center, an innovative experiment in rural health care with a focus on patient and community control of care. He later went on to found the Family Health Center of Florence, a progressive primary care practice in Florence, Oregon. Dr. Scott is President Elect of the National Physicians Alliance. He serves on the faculty of the Oregon Health Sciences University where he teaches courses in quality and strategy of the OHSU/PSU Health Care MBA program. Growing up, Dr. Scott spent summers at a family cabin along the Sandy River and remembers amazing salmon, smelt, and eel runs. The cabin is still much the same, but those runs are mostly memories. Through his participation on Pacific Rivers’ board, Dr. Scott hopes to contribute to the conservation and renewal of such wild places.
