Rock Creek (Upper Clark Fork R.), Montana

Rock Creek, a longstanding Montana “Blue Ribbon Trout Fishery,” remains a gem of biological beauty in the mining-ravaged Upper Clark Fork Basin. With its headwaters at the Continental Divide in the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, Rock Creek traverses two national forests rich in roadless land, surrounding a thread of private ownership in its central valley and lower reaches. Cold and clean, Rock Creek supports critical populations of native westslope cutthroat trout and is a nationally prominent stronghold for threatened bull trout.
